In my never ending quest to remain a glass-half full kind of gal, I like to keep my bookshelf and playlist full of inspiration.
One of my favourite personal development books is The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.
Gretchen has a great website at gretchenrubin.com where she when shares her adventures in the pursuit of happiness and good habits. Gretchen’s books are pretty popular, but I’ve been surprised at the number of people who aren’t aware that she also has a podcast.
I’ve mentioned it to a few people lately and they had no idea what they’d been missing out on. Fortunately I have no shortage of enthusiasm when talking it up.
That’s because Gretchen’s podcast is a must subscribe show for anyone who wants to learn how to be happier each week.
Actually it’s not just Gretchen’s show. She cost hosts with her sister, Elizabeth Craft, a Hollywood writer and producer and they are the best co-hosts of any podcast I’ve listened to – and I listen to a lot!
I’ve always felt sad that I didn’t have a sister and even more so when I listen to Gretchen and Elizabeth. They make sisterhood seem like so much fun, but at least I get to live vicariously through them.
There are many great things about the Happier podcast, but my favourites are the “Try this a Home” segment, where Gretchen and Elizabeth set the audience a simple task to improve happiness and the “Gold Stars and Demerits” segment, where the ladies reward themselves for good deeds and recognise things they need to work harder on to be happier in their lives.
Another fun part of the podcast is hearing about Gretchen’s life in New York City and Elizabeth’s life in Los Angeles. They also share memories of their childhood in Kansas City.
This is a professionally edited podcast that are on average 30 minutes long. They are the perfect pick me up on a Monday morning or any time you need a happiness boost.
