On Sunday I turned 47.
Or as I prefer to refer to it – the 30th anniversary of my 17th birthday.
There was no forgetting my age though.
Kicking off a day of celebrations, we went to San Churro for brunch and guess what table number we were given?
I mean, when your table number is your age, there’s no denying it.
One of the good things about getting older is that you stress less about things that aren’t important. So when it’s too hot to bake a cake, you hack a Woolies mud cake instead.
Speaking of Instagram, in the afternoon I enjoyed a girls afternoon at the Hyatt where the high tea was one Insta shot after another.
I quickly realised I was going to have to stick to a one bite rule as there was just too many delicious things to sample.
After a glass of bubbly, we started with the savouries.
And then moved on to the sweets.
Thank goodness for share plates. I don’t know how Maggie and Matt do it on Bake Off. Even one bite had me full all too soon.
Luckily the bubbles were bottomless.
This was my first birthday without my mum, so there were a lot of emotions, but overall I had a lovely day doing special things with the people I love.
Here’s cheers to 47 and all that this year brings.
